1907                 Ben Epps first Georgian to build and fly an airplane

1912                 Alfred Cunningham: First U.S. Marine Pilot

1917 – 1918     Eugene Bullard: first African American combat pilot, WWI Ace, awarded the Croix de Guerre

                         Awarded Knight of the Legion of Honor

1923                 Departing from Souther Field, Charles Lindbergh makes first solo flight

1926                 Atlanta Hartsfield Airport opens as Chandler Field

1926                 Naval ROTC founded at Georgia Tech

1928                 Delta Air Service founded

1941 - 1942      RAF Pilots train in Albany and Americus Georgia

1941                 Bell Aircraft selected to build B-29s

1941 – 1945     General Robert Scott: WWII Ace, flew the Hump, wrote God is My Co-Pilot

                         Given a P-40 by Chennault (AVG) to fly transport escort 

1941 - 1945      Henry Tift Myers:  1st to fly around world at equator, flew Roosevelt & Churchill to Yalta 

1941                 Maule Air founded:  oldest of the small aircraft manufacturers in Georgia

1941 – 1945     Hazel Raines:  Georgia's First Lady in Flight,  logged highest ATA flight hours 

1942                 Eighth Airforce assigned to Savannah

1942 – 1943     Bell Aircraft begins operations in Marietta

1945                 Delta Air Lines founded

1948 - 1949      General Lucius Clay organized the Berlin Airlift

1951                 Lockheed begins operations in Marietta

1954                 C-130 Hercules begins, becomes world's longest continuously running production line

1967                 Gulfstream begins operations in Savannah

1995                 Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Company (LMASC) begins operations

1998                 Atlanta Hartsfield becomes world’s busiest airport
